    • Historic Environment Record of Northern Ireland (HERoNI)

More than 9,000 buildings and structures of special or historic interest are included in HERoNI’s Historic Buildings Record, and most have been protected by Listing.

What you can find in the Historic Buildings Record

Descriptions of houses, churches and public buildings, as well as other features such as fountains and telephone kiosks, are available to view on the NI Historic Buildings Database.  Numerous images in HERoNI’s Photographic Collection provide fascinating glimpses of many of these buildings at various times in their history.

Specialised surveys, for example of thatched buildings and water pumps in Northern Ireland, form another part of the Historic Buildings Record. Also available are original drawings by architects John MacGeagh, Philip Bell, Robert McKinstry and others in our Drawings Collection.
