    Topics:
    • Benefits and pensions

    Date published: 6 August 2024

The Department for Communities (DfC) is encouraging all those with an interest in the current Welfare Supplementary Payment schemes to put forward their opinions in a survey on the DfC website

The survey on the Welfare Supplementary Payment (WSP) schemes - which include the Benefit Cap and ‘Bedroom Tax’ payments - is open to all and is available for completion on the website until Friday 6 September 2024.

The Welfare Supplementary Payment (WSP) schemes survey is open to all and is available for completion on the website until Friday 6 September 2024.

The survey is part of a wider engagement process by the Department on the future of Welfare Supplementary Payments, also known as mitigation schemes.

WSPs were introduced in Northern Ireland in 2016 to alleviate the financial impact of changes to the social security system introduced by the UK Government.

The Department will produce a report setting out their assessment of the operation of each of the Welfare Supplementary Payment schemes by 31 March 2025.

The results of the survey will help inform the findings of the report and decisions on the future of the Welfare Supplementary Payment schemes.

Those interested in contributing to the engagement can access the survey on the Department for Communities website
