    Emer Morelli is the Deputy Secretary for Engaged Communities Group in the Department for Communities, Northern Ireland.

    The Engaged Communities Group is responsible for:

    • Active Communities has responsibility for strategy and policy development in respect of sport and physical activity, governance and accountability and sponsorship of Sport Northern Ireland. It includes Sports & Lottery Branch; Regional and Sub Regional Stadia Programmes and the ECG Support Office.
    • Culture Division, which has responsibility for policy development and delivery on Irish, Ulster Scots and sign language; oversight of the North/South Language Body; Arts infrastructure and strategy; the creative industries; community festivals, museums & libraries and architecture and built environment for Northern Ireland
    • Historic Environment Division (HED) which records, protects, conserves, enhances and promotes the historic environment to secure its benefits for current and future generations
    • Public Record Office NI (PRONI), which was established for the reception and preservation of public records including records of Government Departments; courts of law, public bodies and NDPBs; and records deposited by private individuals, churches, businesses and institutions
    • Central Policy Division has the overall responsibility for co-ordinating cross-Departmental policy on issues such as equality and safeguarding. The Central Policy Division is also responsible for leading the development of the Executive’s Strategies for Anti-Poverty, Disability, Active Ageing, Sexual Orientation and Gender Equality. The Directorate also co-ordinates DfC’s ongoing work around the UK’s future relationship with the EU.
