Legislation introduced on 1 April 2007 provides a new structure for the private rented sector in Northern Ireland.
For any increase in rent for controlled tenancies to be applied after 1 April 2007, a landlord must apply to the Rent Officer for Northern Ireland under the provisions of the Private Tenancies Order 2006.
