  • Provision of affordable housing for people aged 55 and over in NI - screening

    Topics:
    • Housing

    Date published: 2 August 2022

The aim of this proposal is to utilise Financial Transaction Capital (FTC) to introduce a pilot to increase the supply of affordable housing for older people who wish to downsize or move to housing that better suits their needs, for example, by enabling a move to a smaller property which is easier to maintain. It will be delivered by Co-Ownership.

Co-Ownership is the Department for Communities’ main delivery partner for intermediate housing, with a long track record of providing a low cost route into home ownership through its shared ownership product, Co-Own, for first time buyers and those returning to the market.
