Date published:
As part of the Department for Communities’ (DfC) review into social housing tenancy fraud, it is proposed that 2 new tenancy fraud legislative provisions are to be included in the Department of Finance’s (DoF), Financial Provisions Bill, which DoF plans to introduce within the 2024/25 mandate
The first proposal is to enable NIHE to carry out tenancy fraud investigations on behalf of the Registered Housing Association (RHA) sector and to charge an RHA for the investigation service.
The second proposal is a data sharing provision to cover the information exchange between the RHA sector and the NIHE and potentially provision of information by any other person to the NIHE, for the purposes of investigating tenancy fraud.
