The Licensing (City of Derry Airport) Order (Northern Ireland) 2026 - screening

The licensed premises within the City of Derry Airport are currently subject to the general permitted hours in accordance with Article 42 of the Licensing (Northern Ireland) Order 1996 (‘the Order’). General permitted hours for a pub are currently 11:30am until 11:00pm Monday to Saturday and 12:30pm until 11:00pm on Sunday. General permitted hours for an off-licence are 8:00am until 11:00pm Monday – Saturday and 10:00am until 10:00pm on Sunday.
Article 41 of the Order prohibits the sale, purchase, consumption or taking away of alcohol outside permitted hours. Under section 22 of the Customs and Excise Management Act 1979 this prohibition does not apply to licensed premises within an approved examination station at an airport which is specified under Article 53(1) of the Order. In effect the licensed premises may trade whenever the airport is in operation.
