    Date published: 30 March 2023

The Intermediate Rent policy aims to achieve an increase in the supply of affordable homes for rent for lower-moderate income households.

Evidence collated and examined by the Department for Communities indicates that an increased number of more affordable homes for rent is required within the Northern Ireland housing market to meet the needs of citizens.

Evidence indicates that there is a specific need, in addition to the provision for increasing social housing development, to also increase the number of affordable homes for rent within the Northern Ireland housing market. The aim of this policy is to set the framework to allow this development.
