Suspended sentence for benefit fraud at Omagh Magistrates’ Court

A man has been convicted at Omagh Magistrates’ Court for fraudulently claiming over £2,900 in benefits.
Martin Potts (60), of Tattykeel Road, Omagh, falsely declared that he was providing care and claimed £2,911 in Carer’s Allowance without the third party’s knowledge. He was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment, suspended for two years. The fraud was uncovered following an investigation by the Department for Communities.
Mr Potts is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongly obtained to the Department.
