Suspended sentence for benefit fraud at Craigavon Crown Court

A man has been convicted at Craigavon Crown Court for fraudulently claiming over £30,000 in benefits.
James Higgins (36), of Glasvey Rise, Dunmurry, claimed Universal Credit totalling £30,489 while failing to declare capital. He was sentenced to eight months’ imprisonment suspended for two years.
Mr Higgins is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongly obtained to the Department.
The fraud was uncovered following an investigation by the Department for Communities.
