Reappointment to the Charities Advisory Committee

Communities Minister Gordon Lyons MLA has reappointed Mr Andrew Turner as a Charities Advisory Committee Member from 1 October 2024 to 30 September 2028. Mr Turner has been in this position since 1 October 2020.

Latest Appointment

The Committee plays a vital role in assisting the Department in its role as Trustee of the Northern Ireland Central Investment Fund for Charities (the Fund).

The Fund allows a wide range of charities to invest funds with the benefit of expert supervision with the objective being to generate an income return and long-term capital growth (+5 years) in real terms. It is currently valued at over £54 million.

  1. Committee Member positions attract no remuneration, however there is a provision for out-of-pocket expenses.
  2. This reappointment has been made in accordance with the Commissioner for Public Appointments for Northern Ireland’s (CPA NI) Code of Practice. All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, CPA NI requires the political activity of appointees to be published.   3. Biographical Details:
    • Mr Andrew Turner has 23 years of experience in financial markets across London, Moscow and Milan. Currently he trades fixed income securities for a European Investment Bank. He was previously employed as sole portfolio manager on a debt fund that covered both local and hard currency fixed income. His main area of focus has been Eastern European emerging market debt. He holds no other public appointments and has had no political activity within the last five years.
