The former military base at Grosvenor Barracks was purchased by the Department for Communities in 2008 to be developed for mixed tenure residential.
The twenty acre Grosvenor Barracks site comprised two sections.
- The smaller section being Ballaghmore Heights (2.7 acres in size) to the south of the Coleshill Road which has been fully developed by Clanmil Housing Association.
- The remaining 17.2 acre site previously contained a range of former military buildings and installations, which all have been cleared. A thorough investigation of contamination on the site was undertaken and a remediation plan put in place. A transport assessment was also carried out. Outline planning permission was submitted in January 2011 for a 200 dwelling (mixed tenure) scheme on this site and secured on 28th March 2017, and renewal was secured on 22nd October 2020.

During this consultation period the planning proposal will be on display at the Northern Ireland Housing Executive Offices, Riverview House, Head Street, Enniskillen BT74 7DA and Lakeland Forum, Broadmeadow, Enniskillen, BT74 7EF.
A public drop in event at the West End Community Centre will take place on 08 August 2023 between 3:00pm and 7:00pm. There will be an opportunity at this event to ask questions, complete questionnaires and provide feedback. Any comments made during the consultation period will be considered by the Department when completing the Consultation Report for the planning application.
