Summary
The Department for Communities (DfC) is undertaking a short, focused consultation on the introduction a Code of Practice for gambling operators, ie those who hold a licence, permit or certificate under the Betting, Gaming, Lotteries and Amusements (Northern Ireland) Order 1985.

The Department is bringing forward this Code in accordance with a power proposed under Clause 15 of the Betting, Gaming, Lotteries and Amusements (Amendment) Bill which was introduced for consideration in the Northern Ireland Assembly by the Minister of Communities, Deirdre Hargey MLA, in September 2021. Assuming the Bill, including Clause 15, is approved by the Assembly and en-acted the Department would have the power, subject to a commencement Order, to bring draft Codes of Practice into effect.
