    Topics:
    • Housing

Consultation closed Consultation opened 24 June 2019, 7.30 am and closed 13 September 2019, 6.00 pm

    Summary

The Department for Communities is seeking views on its proposals to change the Definition of Affordable Housing. The current definition of affordable housing was drafted to reflect the affordable housing products available at the time of its development, namely social housing and shared ownership housing. The Department considers that it is now timely to provide a revised definition of affordable housing which incorporates a wider range of intermediate housing products.

The consultation paper has been drafted to capture the Department’s initial thoughts as to what a new definition of affordable housing might look like. We are keen to test thinking more widely on this issue and would encourage anyone with an interest in this topic to offer their thoughts on the issues raised within this paper.

There are a number of ways to respond to this consultation, should you wish to do so. We would strongly encourage you to use the online consultation questionnaire.

You can also complete and return the consultation questionnaire via email or in writing.
