- The Landlord Registration Scheme Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2026
Consultation description
The proposed aim is to link landlord registration with the standards required in private rented properties in Northern Ireland. Landlords will be required to give more information on their properties and standards at the point of registration. It is anticipated that these changes will make the Scheme a more effective tool for improving landlords’ knowledge of, and compliance with, their legal duties.
The Department welcomes your views on the potential benefits and disadvantages of the draft regulations. Your feedback will help to shape the regulations and the future of the Landlord Registration Scheme. Interested parties are encouraged to make responses or contact the Department with any queries.
In line with the NICS Digital First principle, responses to this consultation should be made online, through the Citizen Space survey which can be accessed through the green button below.
A Section 75 screening for this consultation has been published.
