    You can apply for the many services provided by the Department via nidirect. You can apply online and by form. For customers who are deaf, or hard of hearing, or speech impaired the Department also offers a British and Irish Sign Language (BSL / ISL) Video Relay Service for a range of benefits.     Video Relay Service for deaf people claiming benefits

    If you are deaf or hard of hearing or speech impaired and use either British or Irish Sign Language (BSL) (ISL) you can now communicate in real time with benefit staff using the Video Relay Service (VRS).
