Join Minister Gordon Lyons MLA for a landmark celebration marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence recognising the significant contribution Northern Ireland has made to communities across the United States.
From 4 November 2026, visitors are invited to explore an exciting new exhibition at the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI).
PRONI’s first international exhibition offers an unprecedented opportunity to see rare, original documents on loan from prestigious US and UK national institutions. Showcasing cornerstone documents of the United States of America with a County Tyrone born patriot at the forefront of each.
Spanning 250 years of history, the exhibition highlights stories of migration, opportunity, hardship and resilience, exploring themes such as famine, slavery and transatlantic connections. Through these stories, visitors will discover how generations of people from Ulster helped shape the development of the United States and forged relationships that continue to endure today.
The exhibition forms part of a wider programme recognising Northern Ireland's contribution to the USA and celebrates the deep historical ties that continue to connect both countries today.
