Welfare Changes - Discretionary Support Information

This policy sets out the Department’s overall approach to the provision of discretionary support to be provided to those most vulnerable living on low incomes, who find themselves in the most exceptional, extreme or crisis situations. This policy will ensure the provision of a swift and practical response from Government to address risks to health, safety and / or wellbeing and assist people in these circumstances to avoid falling into further unmanageable debt and greater dependency.
