The Universal Credit (Extension of Coronavirus Measures) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2021 - screening

Date published: 14 April 2021

In March 2020, in response to the Coronavirus Pandemic, the Secretary of State, on behalf of the Department for Communities, made regulations which increased the standard allowance of UC by an amount equal to £86.67 per assessment period (equivalent to £20 per week) for each assessment period during the 20/21 tax year and relaxed the conditions relating to the Minimum Income Floor for self-employed claimants.

These provisions are due to expire on 6 April 2021 and 30 April 2021 respectively.

The purpose of The Universal Credit (Extension of Coronavirus Measures) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2021 is to extend the temporary uplift of £86.67 per month to the Universal Credit (UC) Standard Allowance for those who are making a new claim for or have been awarded UC for a further 6 months and to extend the relaxation of the Minimum Income Floor (MIF) requirements for a further three months for those who are self-employed.
