    Date published: 7 June 2023

Childcare costs have increased significantly in recent years and can form a real barrier to work for parents. The policy behind these proposals is to remove barriers to employment helping parents with children in receipt of UC to move into work thereby moving families out of poverty while helping to build and develop the economy. The aim of the UC childcare element is to support parents in low-income families for whom paid childcare is a key barrier to work participation and progression.
