    This Statutory Rule makes amendments to Schedule 2 of the Social Security (Medical Evidence) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1976 and the Schedule to the Statutory Maternity Pay (Medical Evidence) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1987 to remove the requirement for a MATB1 certficate to be ‘completed in ink or other indelible substance’ when making claims to both Maternity Allowance and Statutory Maternity Pay.

    (A MATB1 is a paper-based form issued and signed by a doctor or a midwife to provide evidence of a woman’s pregnancy and her expected date of childbirth).
