    The aim of the policy is to act as a deterrent for those who would seek to defraud the benefit system. This information is already in the public domain as verdicts and court sentences are given out in open court and are often reported in local media.

    This policy will build on this and reinstate the practice of publishing this information on the Department’s website. When this practice was previously in place, the Department did not receive any comments or complaints in relation to actual impacts on equality of opportunity and/or good relations.
