The Third Party Deduction Scheme is available for a vulnerable minority of benefit customers who may have arrears of essential household costs and may not be able to budget for these debts. This scheme allows the Department to deduct money directly from a customer’s benefit to clear debts. This money is then directly paid to the customer’s creditor (service provider) and referred to as third party deductions.
