    Date published: 5 January 2021

Under the Department for Communities (DfC) framework, Ove Arup and Partners Ltd (“Arup”) and Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) have been engaged to provide strategic support on the disposal and delivery options for a strategic regeneration site known as ‘Fort George’ along the riverfront on the West Bank of Derry~Londonderry city.

Prior to being purchased in 2004 by the Department for Social Development (now the Department for Communities), the site was used as an army barracks by the Ministry of Defence. The Department for Communities continue to have ownership of the site.

An outline master plan for the site has been approved by Derry City and Strabane District Council to provide for 82,274 sq. metres of gross floorspace of a mix of uses including residential, offices, employment uses, education uses, retail, cafes, bars, restaurants and associated multi-storey and surface car parking.
