  • Emergency Fuel Payment Scheme (EFPS) - screening

    Topics:
    • Benefits and pensions

    Date published: 4 March 2022

Global wholesale energy costs, particularly gas and oil, have increased at unprecedented rates. This has resulted in significant increases in gas, home heating oil and electricity bills for households in NI. Further significant price rises have been announced by a number of the energy suppliers.

The aim is to provide financial assistance to those most likely to be impacted by the fuel price increases. The Department for Communities is seeking to contribute a sum of £2 million to an EFPS. This will be targeted at those who present as being in a fuel crisis and who have a temporary inability to meet their fuel costs.
