Are you looking for an opportunity to make a significant and valuable contribution to the oversight and delivery of public services in Northern Ireland? Join the Board of the largest Department within the NI Civil Service.

The Department for Communities (DfC) works to deliver thriving places in Northern Ireland;  protecting, supporting and enabling people to live well.  It is directly responsible for £11.5 billion of public funds covering social welfare, housing, culture, arts and leisure. DfC is now seeking two Non-Executive Members to join its Management Board. This exciting role is suited to an individual who can bring external and independent demonstrable experience and expertise.

Non-Executive Members play a significant role providing constructive advice and challenge, to ensure good corporate governance. Members make an important contribution to the Department’s strategic direction.

Applications are welcome from a wide range of people who have an interest in public service, including those who are looking for an opportunity to use their skills and experience. We would particularly welcome applications from women, people with a disability, young people and people from minority ethnic groups for these positions. A Guaranteed Interview Scheme is in place for those applicants with a disability.

Further information on the competition including the essential criteria can be found in the Candidate Information Booklet. Although this is not a public appointment, the TEO Guide on Public Appointments is a useful reference document.

The closing date is 12 noon on Monday 10 August 2026. Late applications will not be considered. Interviews are expected to take place on 21 September 2026. Due to timing constraints, no other date can be accommodated.
