    Date published: 8 June 2021

The Department’s review of the Affordable Warmth Scheme has identified proposals for change which have the potential to increase access to grants and make the process more streamlined and these proposals were then subject to a public consultation.

In response to the public consultation Minister has now approved the following changes to the Scheme eligibility criteria:

    • Income Threshold - the income threshold will be increased to £23,000
    • Householders with Disabilities - Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Attendance Allowance (AA), Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and Carers Allowance will no longer be included in the calculation of income for the Affordable Warmth Scheme.

It is proposed that these changes will take effect from 1 April 2021 or shortly thereafter depending on the timing of the legislative process.
