Suspended sentence for benefit fraud at Lisburn Magistrates’ Court

A man has been convicted at Lisburn Magistrates’ Court for fraudulently claiming over £12,000 in benefits.
John Bloomer (61), of Aspen Walk, Dunmurry, claimed Jobseeker's Allowance totalling £12,304 whilst failing to declare employment. He was sentenced to four months’ imprisonment suspended for 18 months. The fraud was uncovered following an investigation by the Department for Communities.
Mr Bloomer is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongly obtained to the Department.
