Minister Givan meets with Gary McAllister in France

Speaking after meeting with the Chairman Gary McAllister, the Minister said: “The work of the Amalgamation of Northern Ireland Supporters' Clubs have played a key role in providing advice and guidance to the tens of thousands of members of the Green and White Army travelling to France. The atmosphere has been incredible both in the stadium and importantly outside the grounds and this is in no small way down to the exceptional preparation and planning by the Group who have been there every step of the way for the fans. The part they have played in making the tournament enjoyable to those who have used the service cannot be understated.

“The Northern Ireland fans have been a great advertisement for what’s good about Northern Ireland and they are tremendous ambassadors. The supporters' clubs have played a vital role in nurturing this. They are a party of hard working volunteers who ensure that fans are kept informed of up to date travel advice, events, general information and safety advice to help fans enjoy their time in France. I also want to take this opportunity to acknowledge and praise the overwhelming support of fans across the World but most importantly to those who are back home, this support inspires not only those fans who are in France but also the Northern Ireland team.

“I am delighted that my Department along with the IFA have been able to support this initiative and the Amalgamation of Northern Ireland Supporters' Clubs. This has undoubtedly added to the great experience that the GAWA are having as they travel through France from venue to venue. I know this will continue throughout the rest of the tournament.”
