Appointment to the Libraries NI Board

Communities Minister Gordon Lyons has appointed Councillor Paul Greenfield to the Libraries NI Board with effect from 18 June 2026 to 17 June 2030.
Libraries NI is an Arm’s-Length Body sponsored by the Department for Communities (DfC). Its primary duty, as set down in the Libraries Act (Northern Ireland) 2008, is to provide a comprehensive and efficient public library service for persons living, working or studying in Northern Ireland
Notes to editors:
- Board Members receive remuneration of £3,697 per year for a commitment of at least 15 days per year. Travel and subsistence allowances are also payable.
- This appointment has been made in accordance with the Commissioner for Public Appointments for Northern Ireland’s (CPA NI) Code of Practice. All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, CPA NI requires the political activity of appointees to be published. Any relevant details are provided in the below biography.
- Cllr Paul Greenfield Biography: Cllr Greenfield has been a DUP Councillor on the Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council since May 2014. He has served as Lord Mayor and chair of various council committees including Economic Development and Regeneration Committee and Audit Committee, with these roles allowing him to deliver outcomes for local citizens. He is currently Vice-Chairman of Upper Bann DUP Association, a member of the Dublin Belfast Economic Corridor Political Advisory Group and serves on the Board of Governors of Scarva PS. He hold no other public appointments.
