    About Muckamore Priory

Roadworks uncovered part of this priory of Augustinian Canons in 1973. It was founded by followers of John de Courcy before 1283 on the site of an earlier church and its dedication to SS Mary and Colman Elo acknowledges the earlier foundation. It is in state care awaiting further excavation and eventual display. The field is used as pasture and there are no visible remains.
