This was the site of a pre-Norman church and the medieval parish church of Errigal. The bullaun stone, a large basalt boulder with a hollow, often water-filled and regarded as a font, is pre-Norman and indicates an early Christain use of the site. In the field north of the graveyard is a rock-cut souterrain (not in State Care), another sign of Early Christian period activity in this area.
