    The Department for Communities is holding a 12 week public consultation on a registration threshold below which charities in Northern Ireland would not be required to register with or report to the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland.

    Consultation description

    This Consultation will contribute to the future of registration with the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland for charities of low-income. It is important that views of the public and the charity sector are represented to help determine and develop the registration threshold. Whether you are a charity trustee, a member of a charity, a charity volunteer or a member of the public that supports or benefits from charities, we want to hear your views on this important issue. We are also interested in hearing the views of legal advisors, funders, independent examiners and other regulators or bodies that interact with the Charity Commission.

    The consultation will run for 12 weeks from 20 May 2024 to 11 August 2024. It is recommended that respondents read the consultation documentation above prior to completing the consultation questionnaire.

    A series of consultation events which will be hosted both in person and online through May and June 2024. Details can be found below.
