    Consultation description

Section 19 of the Employment Act (Northern Ireland) 2016 sets out the requirement for employers to publish information relating to the pay of employees for the purpose of showing whether there are differences in the pay of male and female employees, i.e. the Gender Pay Gap (GPG).

The regulations will require employers, with 250 (this number will be subject to consultation) or more relevant employees within the public, private and voluntary sector, to publish their overall gender pay information.

The objective of this intervention is to encourage employers to:

    1. identify Gender Pay Gaps
    2. analyse the drivers behind them
    3. explore the extent to which their own policies and practices may have contributed to the gaps and
    4. take remedial action.

The Section 75 screening form has also been published.
