    Topics:
    • Regeneration,
    • Improving places

Preparation of the Five Cs Public Realm project commenced in January 2020 following a procurement competition to lead an Integrated Consultant Team (ICT) to design and oversee the delivery of the Five Cs Public Realm construction works.

    The project

The project is made up of two defined areas, as follows:

    • Area 1 -
      • College Court (from College Street to Castle Street)
      • College Street (from College Avenue to Queen Street)
    • Area 2:
      • Callender Street (from the junction of Donegall Square North and Chichester Street to the interface with the Northern section of Callender Street which was upgraded as part of Belfast Streets Ahead Phase 1)
      • A section of Upper Arthur Street, from Chichester Street to Arthur Lane
      • A section of Montgomery Street, from Chichester Street to Arthur Lane

The associated public realm improvement works are to include surfacing, greening, street furniture and all associated works.

The purpose of this Report was to allow a qualified independent Access Consultant to review the existing project designs, prepared by the project’s Integrated Consultancy Team and to either provide DfC with assurances that an optimal design has been achieved or to highlight where further development is necessary, in line with current best practice and the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.
