The Universal Credit (Transitional Provisions) (Amendment) Regulations (NI) 2022 - screening

Date published: 18 July 2022

Last updated: 18 July 2022

Regulations to allow the managed migration of legacy benefit claimants to Universal Credit (UC) were made in 2016, the Universal Credit (Transitional Provisions) Regulations (NI) 2016. These regulations provide for the Move to UC. A pilot for Move to UC started in July 2019 in GB, to develop, test and adapt processes so claimants invited to move to UC can do so smoothly and effectively. However, this was suspended in March 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

These regulations amend the Universal Credit (Transitional Provisions) Regulations (NI) 2016 and prepare for the resumption of Move to UC. They contain amendments in relation to the natural migration process and the removal of provisions that are no longer necessary following the full roll-out of Universal Credit.
