The Voluntary, Community & Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector in Northern Ireland requires capital investment in assets to deliver against the Executive’s Programme for Government (PfG).Asset funding typically comes from a cocktail of funders drawn from public and philanthropic sources for example central government, local government and non-statutory funders; Community Finance Ireland (CFI) provides access to social capital finance on terms unavailable from commercial sources.

Due to the impact of the COVID pandemic, limited capital is now available for CFI to invest in the NI VCSE which may act as a brake on the delivery of PfG outcomes.
