    Date published: 22 March 2022

    Last updated: 14 April 2022

Active Living, the new Sport and Physical Activity Strategy for Northern Ireland, through its Vision and associated key Themes and Goals, seeks to create a vibrant, welcoming, enjoyable, inclusive and successful sector for everyone, contributing significantly to a healthier and more resilient society. It recognises the important role that sport and physical activity plays across our island whether it is taking place on playing fields, in a stadium, a gym, on water, or in the mountains.

The Strategy has been developed during what has been an unprecedented and challenging period for everyone, the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic has had a significant impact on sports organisations, clubs and individuals and has demonstrated how important sport and physical activity is for our communities and how much it is valued.
