    About Spring Farm Rath

A well-preserved platform rath, sited on fairly level ground rising gently to the north-east. The platform, 30m in diameter, is surrounded by a partly waterlogged ditch, 1m deep but originally much deeper. This was the homestead of a farming family in the Early Christian period, but traces of their house and farm buildings could only be recovered by excavation. The rath is an attractive landmark and an island of green among recent houses, a reminder of farmers in the area a thousand years ago.
