    Summary

A consultation on proposals to change the rates of the General Levy on occupational and personal pension schemes from 2020.

    Consultation description

The author for this consultation is the Department for Work and Pensions. As such, all consultation information and related documents can be found on the Gov.uk website

The Department for Work and Pensions has published the consultation paper The Occupational and Personal Pension Schemes (General Levy) review 2019 which seeks views on proposed changes to the rates of the General Levy on occupational and personal pension schemes from April 2020.

The consultation is primarily aimed at pension scheme trustees, managers and administrators. However, comments from the wider public are also welcomed.

In general, Northern Ireland’s pensions policy and legislation operate in line with Great Britain, and there is, in effect, a single pensions system across the UK. Additionally, the Pensions Regulator, the pensions guidance function of the Money and Pensions Service and the Pensions Ombudsman operate UK wide. It is anticipated therefore that corresponding Regulations will be introduced here, subject to the necessary Ministerial, Executive and Assembly approvals.”
