    On 1 November 2016 the Department, in conjunction with the Welfare Reform Advice Services Consortium (Citizens Advice, Advice NI and the Law Centre NI), launched a number of services to support anyone needing help or advice relating to any of the changes to the welfare system:

    • The Independent Welfare Change Helpline (0800 915 4604)
      The helpline is available from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday and is free from any device (mobile or landline) within the UK.
    • Additional independent advisers will be available across all 11 council areas in Northern Ireland and located in local Citizens Advice and Advice NI offices to provide face to face assistance to anyone impacted by the changes; and
    • Additional specialist legal advice from the Law Centre and access to specialist services where required.

    These services are free for anyone who needs help or advice relating to any of the changes to the welfare system.
