River notice 28/19

Navigation information - Diving operations week commencing 26 August 2019

Notice is hereby given that in preparation for the forthcoming dredging contract diving surveys will continue to take place at various bridges and structures between Lagan Weir and Stranmillis weir. The diving operations will take place Monday to Wednesday during week commencing 26 August 2019. The dive locations include:

Queen Elizabeth Bridge
Queens Bridge
Albert Bridge
Ormeau Bridge
Kings Bridge
Governors Bridge
Lagan Viaduct
Confiance Barge
Maysfield Inlet
Lanyon Place
Ravenhill Reach slipway
Blackstaff River and Relief Culvert inlets
McConnel weir and lock
Various steps and in water structures
Lagan Weir

The diving team will be working from a multicat barge and an Alpha flag will be on display when divers are in the water.  River users are asked to use extra vigilance and caution when navigating in the river and to give the diving operations a wide berth.

The River Wardens boat Sacha will be on duty to ensure that river users comply with the River Lagan Tidal Navigation and General Bye Laws (NI) applicable to this notice.
