- Venue: Down County Museum
There are many 20th century military and associated Defence Heritage sites and structures dotted in and around our countryside and coast, including training trenches, gun and searchlight emplacements, observation posts, airfields, air raid shelters and numerous other structures. The majority of these sites are derelict, some have been reused or altered and others have been demolished.
This one day seminar hosted by Department for Communities in association with Down County Museum will look at various examples from across Great Britain and Ireland – both north and south. The day will discuss the challenges of recording, conservation and promotion of such sites and why it’s important for future generations to come.
