Appointment of a Chair to the Board of the Northern Ireland Museums Council

Date published: 08 October 2020

Last updated: 29 October 2020

The closing date for applications for Chair of the Northern Ireland Museum Council has been extended until Monday 2 November 2020 at 12 noon.

Please note the applications for Directors of the Board closed on 26 November 2020 – no further applications for these positions will be accepted.

The work of the Council covers a wide range of local museums, outside of the remit of National Museums, such as the Armagh County Museum and the Linen Hall Library in Belfast and seeks a dynamic, inclusive and sustainable museum sector. Through initiatives such as the ‘Reimagine, Remake, Replay’ and ‘Dementia Friendly Museums’ projects as well as its various grant programmes, the Council seeks to widen its outreach and enable new audience to enjoy and engage with museums.

Applications are welcome from a wide range of people who have an interest in public service, including those who are looking for an opportunity to use their skills and experience. We would particularly welcome applications from women, people with a disability, young people and people from minority ethnic groups for these positions. A Guaranteed Interview Scheme is in place for those applicants with a disability. You do not need to have previous experience of serving on a board to apply.

Further information on the competition including the criteria for the positions can be found in the Candidate Information Booklet.

The extended closing date is 12 noon on Monday 2 November 2020. Late applications will not be considered.
