A man was convicted at Newry Magistrates’ Court today for claiming over £7,000 in benefits he was not entitled to.
Gavin Robinson (33) of Summer Hill, Warrenpoint, claimed Employment & Support Allowance, Housing Benefit and Jobseeker’s Allowance totalling £7,164 while failing to declare employment. He was fined £375 plus a £15 offenders levy and a Compensation Order was granted for the Department for £7164. The fraud was uncovered following an investigation by the Department for Communities.
He is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department.
