Two convicted at Enniskillen Magistrates’ Court of benefit fraud

Two men were convicted at Enniskillen Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits they were not entitled to.

Brendan Jones (37) of Mill Road, Derrygonnelly, claimed Income Support, Carer’s Allowance and Housing Benefit totalling £4,871 while failing to declare he was living with a partner. He was given a one year probation order and 80 hours community service.

George Millar (44) of Main Street, Tempo, Enniskillen, claimed Jobseeker’s Allowance and Housing Benefit totaling £12,125 while failing to declare he was living with a partner. He was given a five month prison sentence suspended for two years.

They are also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department for Communities.
