A man and a woman were convicted at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits they were not entitled to.
Christopher Simpson (33) of Carrickdale Gardens, Portadown, claimed Employment And Support Allowance totalling £3,187 while failing to declare employment. He was sentenced to three months imprisonment suspended for 12 months.
Kelly Magee (37) of Moyraverty Meadows, Craigavon, claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £11,579 while failing to declare she was living with a partner. She was sentenced to three months imprisonment suspended for 18 months.
The fraud was uncovered following an investigation by the Department for Communities.
They are also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department for Communities.
