Two men were convicted at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits they were not entitled to.
Stephen Keery (40) of Parkmore, Craigavon, claimed Income Support, Carer’s Allowance and Rates totalling £3,508 while failing to declare employment. He was given a twelve month probation order and ordered to repay £2000 within sixteen weeks.
Joseph O’Hara (51) of Brownlow Terrace, Lurgan, claimed Jobseeker’s Allowance and Housing Benefit totalling £8,823 while failing to declare an income. He was given a three month prison sentence suspended for eighteen months with full repayment to be made within six months
They are also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department for Communities.
