Two women were convicted at Newry Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits they were not entitled to.
Jacqueline McMillan (52) of Ballyroney Road, Katesbridge, claimed Employment Support Allowance totaling £8,872 while failing to declare employment. She was fined £200 and given an offenders levy of £15.
Michaela Clarke (36) of Cregganduff Road, Newry, claimed Employment Support Allowance totaling £6,255 while failing to declare employment. She was fined £200 and given an offenders levy of £15.
They are also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department for Communities.
