Two women were convicted at Belfast Magistrates’ Court on 4 December for claiming benefits they were not entitled to.
Stacey Perkins (35) of Comber Road, Dundonald, claimed Income Support totalling £1700 by wrongful encashment. She was given a conditional discharge for one year.
All overpayments have been repaid to the Department for Communities.
Jamie Stitt (31) of Friendly Street, Belfast, claimed Jobseekers Allowance, Housing Benefit and Employment & Support Allowance totalling £10,737 while failing to declare employment. She was given a four month prison sentence suspended for two years.
She is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department for Communities.
